My favorite holiday tradition is putting up our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving. We did that when I was little and now, with my own family, we are doing it too! I love putting on the lights and all my S'more ornaments!

My favorite Holiday tradition is simple but always brings tears to my eyes. When we are done making our Christmas cookies the kids pick out ones that they want Santa to eat. On Christmas Eve they gety all cozy in their jammies and go and get the cookies they picked out. They get a small glass of milk and carrots (for the reindeer). Watching their faces as they so carefully position where they is a good spot for Santa's cookies and the excitment that they have. This is by far my favorite Holiday tradition (=

My favorite holiday tradition is photographing everyone who is at the family Christmas Eve gathering in one photograph. I want to put the photographs together in some way. There are at least 29 years of these Christmas family photographs.

I love going out the day after Thanksgiving and cutting down a Christmas tree, but nothing beats baking cookies with my daughter. She likes to call herself the Quality checker :) The time her and I have will be something that I will remember for the rest of my life and I pray she will remember for the rest of hers. Happy Holidays!!! - Nicole Boss

My favorite holiday tradition is the Christmas gift my father gives to all the adults in our family. We generally do it after all the kiddos are in bed on Christmas Eve. He gives us all the same (kinda random) gift and then connects it to a scripture verse from the Bible and a "lesson" or to-do for us all. He is the smartest and most creative man!

What I love about the holidays is mixing the old holiday traditions from my side and my husbands and creating new ones for our 3 little ones. I pray they will remember these and treasure them when they get older. One favorite is the arrival of "Goofy" (Christmas Elf on a Shelf). They all look forward to seeing their Christmas friend and he comes after our tree is set up. Otherwise, he wouldn't know where to go. :) Every morning they look for him and it keeps them "good" till Christmas. :) Many blessings to you this Christmas Amy!

My favorite Christmas tradition is driving around with the family looking at Christmas lights. It is something really simple but brings me great joy. We sing Christmas songs and drink hot chocolate. It is something that I loved doing with my family when I was little. I always get a little teary because while we are singing I can remember doing it with my grandma... when certain songs come on I can still hear her singing... I hope I will always be able to remember her voice in my head. I'm tearing up just thinking about it. :) Have a wonderful holiday Amy!

Baking cookies with my Mom has to be my favorite because we laugh, stress and in the end share the fruits of our labors with friends and family across the country!

My favorite Christmas tradition is our big Christmas Eve celebration with all of our extended family. Santa Claus always comes for a visit and brings one gift for each child there. I remember the excitement of waiting for him to arrive, looking out the windows to try and catch a glimpse of Rudolph's glowing red nose. Then when we heard the doorbell, and his jingle bells as he entered all the kids would rush upstairs to see him. Now, as a mom, an aunt, a cousin, I get to see the pure joy and excitement on all of the kids' faces each year when we arrives. It is such a fun tradition, and for as much as I loved it as a kid, I think it is even more fun now.

my new favorite christmas tradition is one we started this year. I made Aidan an advent calendar with boxes and strung them together from the ceiling. Each day we cut a box down and see what's inside- M&Ms and instructions for a RACK of the day... a Random Act of Christmas Kindness. We have left change on candy machines for an unexpecting kid as he leaves the toy store, we have made goodies for the nurses at the hospital taking care of mimi, we have bought hats and mittens and toys for kids in need... i love this tradition and am so glad we started it!

My favorite holiday tradition is our ornament exchange. We each draw a name, and buy that person an ornament. When we set-up our tree, the weekend after Thanksgiving, we exchange our ornaments. My kids love this!

My favorite holiday tradition is getting out our Chicagoland Christmas Decoration book and driving around to find the houses featured in the book. We listen to Christmas music, enjoy a milkshake or hot chocolate and are able to just be together.

Our favorite holiday tradition is putting the ornaments on the tree while enjoying cookies and hot chocolate! We all like to remember and talk about when we got each ornament, who gave it to us, etc. It is such a special way to appreciate out little family and all of our milestones! We also have a garland we hang that has each of our past Christmas card photos on it. Our oldest loves looking at the pictures of herself from years past...and so do we!

My favorite holiday tradition started when my daughter was born 2 years ago. I decided I wanted to take her picture every Christmas morning as she came done the stairs. We all remember how exciting it was to come done and see what Santa had left for us. I want to capture this excitement on her face each year and frame and display them on the wall going by the stairs. It is also a wonderful way to display how she has changed each year.

I have so many, but my newest favorite was inherited from my husband. His HUGE family starts the party at 9pm Christmas eve, but waits until midnight Christmas morning to open gifts. It's a huge build up of excitement for the kids the last hour & then the countdown by all the kids and a massive flurry of gifts, squeals of delight & wrapping paper ensues! :)

My favorite tradition as a child was visiting different churches during Christmas season to see different nativities and decoration. My sister I I loved loved nativities with real animals the best. Being together as a family made it so special! :)

My favorite tradition is going downtown with the family to look at the windows at Marshall Fields, now Macy's, then going to the Walnut Room for dessert and egg nog brandy!!

My favorite holiday tradition is NOT leaving the house except to buy a tree on Black Friday - we sleep in, make a fun breakfast, then go find that perfect tree before spending the rest of the day decorating the tree and house, with a fire in the fireplace and ordering in for dinner!

One of my favorite traditions is going to cut down our Christmas tree at O'neays the day after Thanksgiving. Sometimes it takes hours to find the right one, sometimes just a few minutes. My oldest daughter always timber as it falls. Afterwards we always go out to breakfast.

Every year, when I was a kid, my parents took us downtown to see all the Christmas decorations and all the lights. We would have lunch at the Walunt Room and enjoy the huge, beautifully decorated trees.
We started this tradition with my kids last year and it is so much fun to relive it as a child thru their eyes! I can't wait for it every year!

My favorite tradition is drinking hot chocolate while staying up late on Christmas Eve. I love wrapping up in a blanket and feeling the hot cup in my hands.

So many special little traditions to pick from, but nothing more special than our Christmas Eve traditions. The kids get to open their present under the tree, which is their Christmas jammies to wear to bed that night. They put their Christmas pillow cases on their pillows, handmade by their great aunt. We make our special "reindeer food" mix and go outside and sprinkle it over the front lawn to help Santa find our house!
